hahaha, the writer is Singapore version of Pauline Hanson Australia (see highlighted in red).
She wants immgrants to quickly assimilate with the Sinkies locals and speak Singlish well, kpkb on everything, waiting for gahment instructions and discard their foreign national identity, food and cultures where they came from.
Very funny! Some should send her article to Australian newspaper companies and see what Arse-see have to respond.
On the issue of foreign immigrants, while I am not exactly comfortable yet with so many strangers making my home their home, I understand why this has to be done - primarily due to our falling birthrate and ageing population.
I have noticed that these new immigrants inevitably speak in their mother tongue among themselves. I feel this distinctness of them from us, as well as from other migrant groups, causes further disparity, and if this is not tackled quickly, I dread to think of the long-term ramifications.
