After this 2011 election Singapore seems to be calmer now.
Unlike past elections the ruling party seems to go crazy after the election.
There were always a few rounds of fee hikes, LKY and GCT talking big and all sorts of top down rhetoric.

I think everyone is taking a "break" for a little while - hot issues will now come from the peasants, not from the self-proclaimed reformers/transformers/agents of change.

A real people's President will turn on the heat and they must be trying to get Prata Man to stay on another term while they sort out the hot potatoes. Hopefully, we get a real people's president who will play a more active role, although from the recent LHL pronouncements, the peasants have been gently reminded that it is a non-executive post. So, why must we pay this kind of stupid money?

Agree we have enough of the prata-man. After the watersheld election, there's no gurantee that the PAP nominated candidate will get voted in. As such, it is time that we should look to our people's elected President. One suitable person's name that came up is Dr Tan Cheng Bock. He is an ideal choice but there may be others who could do the job. I do not know Mr Ngiam Tong Dow would be interested?
