Wah lao, just read a Yahoo article by Andrew Loh... is he mad???

Why he keep fighting for the foreign workers NOT to be deported - he wants them to stay in Singapore and tie up the legal system with long trials. Not only will tax payers have to waste money to feed them while they are in jail, it waste people's time, jail manpower. TBH i think the foreign workers would rather get deported and look for a job back home than to stay in our Singapore prison while awaiting a trail that would take months?? years?? Letting them go home is actually better for them lorz... but this Andrew Loh wants to fight to keep them here. After the trial, most likely found guilty still need to deport what? Worse sia.. waste time and money. This guy stupid or what??

It's a matter of principle. If the courts had acquitted them, that means they were innocent. So why deport innocent people?

And if you have the laws to punish rioters, why not enforce them? Scared of foreigners?

This reminds me of a scene in the Bible: Pontius Pilate found Jesus not guilty of any wrongdoing, but in order to appease the angry crowd, he handed Jesus over to them to be crucified.

A wishy-washy judiciary reflects the sickness of the ruling government. The laws are neither fair nor just, and consequently those guilty of big crime get unpunished or underpunished, while the ones guilty of a lesser offence get punished harshly. The laws are not balanced; there is a reason why Lady Justice is depicted holding a pair of scales.

Actually I got read that the courts did not acquit them. So it did not mean that they were innocent.

Not scared of foreigners but better safe than sorry no? Looking out for Singaporeans is better what?

So that we can be seen to have followed due process. We can still deport them after they have been convicted and punished, or if they are innocent, they get to stay on. Deportation without a trial is a cop-out and aimed at not antagonising foreign governments. You only deport people without a trial at the borders when they have not entered the country yet.
