Hi Bros,

1. I have been a PC user all my life and all my data backups are in windows apps. Never touch a Mac before. Will there be any compatibility issues if I use ipad to work on my backup data created using window apps? Do I need any intermediary software to convert the format?:o

2. The reason I am looking at getting an ipad is because of the appeal in its size and weight. I need a backup computer on my travels, sometimes may end up in wulu places with basic internet connections using phone jacks or none at all. So I may need to use a local mobile adapter for internet assess. Will there be any issues in physical connectivity with an ipad?

3. Read that there is a SIM tray; does any bro have experience in using overseas SIM cards purchased locally with Ipad? Can overseas top up SIM cards work with Ipad?

4. Can I upload data from a CD or DVD to Ipad? Any data format constrains?

Sori for my noob questions, but I am complete zero:*: on Mac products and apps.:)

Any advice, comments or experience are welcomed.:)

And thank you inadvance.

I find my Mac Book Air 11" to be far more practical when on the road. It's a proper computer with a proper keyboard.

what you recently bought the most powerful mac pro, which is very expensive, and a monitor which is extremely expensive.
you also bought an macbook air 11??
what happen? you strike lottery lately?

Get an iPad if you just wanna surf and have fun with it, if you wanna do some work, follow ah leong advice.

The Mac Pro tower was ex lease... 18 months old so it was pretty much half price. It's the one I added 16Gb of DRAM to and you told me all I needed was 12Gb. Well guess what... Capture One, Photoshop and bloated Firefox use up the whole lot unless I restart firefox daily.

Mac Book Air was purchased a month ago. I was going away on a photography excursion and I wanted something that would fit in my camera bag.

I spend very little money outside of my hobbies. Truck is 11 years old. House is mortgage free.

Thanks, but it will be quite expensive to use mobile phone as a hotspot for internet connect for my lappy. Whats your experience on the cost comparison using a dedicated SIM versus mobile phone?

I've found that the cheapest way to get on line in any country is to purchase a 3G modem stick locally.

went to Bangkok last month, at the airport I bought MINI SIM from the DTAC counter there 300 baht to replace my Singtel SIM, the money ran out in town, have to top up another 600 baht

I was hoping to get something like a tablet which is easy to carry around while I am working with it.

Yeah, Mac Air still opens like a lappy but guess it's lighter than my netbook which I use as a backup. By the way, what is your experience on battery life for the Mac Book Air, when you go intense on applications? The apple website states five hours on wireless web.
