I remembered his demeanour and poise from his previous post GE conferences.
I had concluded he was nothing more than someone born into political power, with not much substance of his own in political attributes of high order.
Either he had come into his own or Gecko had left him some secret political guidance manual to hedge the eventuality of her passing.
In PAP's GE 2011 victory, I was dumbfounded by his cool and calm bearing in the morning's press conference. He was in in total control leaving no doubt he indeed is the boss now. Although everything seemed to have been prepared in advance, it sent a shiver up my spine in the way it was executed. With order and precision.
