Three people, including a Russian national, stole 70 million Taiwan dollars ($A2.9 million) from 34 ATMs in Taiwan at the weekend.
The suspects apparently hacked the machines' software on Saturday and Sunday, the state-run Central News Agency reported.
All ATMs involved in the heist reportedly belonged to First Bank.
They were believed to have fled the country on Monday, the report said, citing the police.
Only bank clerks, security personnel and system maintenance engineers can access individual ATMs without going through the bank's main computer, so First Bank said it would first check those sources for possible accomplices.
The losses would be shouldered by the bank itself, according to Kuei Hsien-nung, vice chairman of Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission.
