SPH blood donation drive back on July 7
The last SPH Red Apple Day on Jan 25 2011 attracted 280 donors and collected a total of 166 units of blood.
SINGAPORE Press Holdings (SPH) will be holding the second round of its bi-annual blood donation drive - the SPH Red Apple Day - on July 7, to encourage both its staff and the public to donate blood.
Jointly organised by SPH and the Singapore Red Cross Society, the event will be held at the auditorium of the News Centre at Toa Payoh North from 11am to 5pm. As with previous donation drives, the first hour (11am-noon) will be reserved for SPH staff, and the public can head there from noon onwards.
The demand for blood in the Bloodbank is increasing. As it stands, 350 units of blood are needed per day.
The SPH Red Apple Day was initially launched in 2001 as an annual event. Responding to a dip in blood donations during the festive period, the frequency was doubled and one more drive was added to the event calenders of SPH and the Singapore Red Cross Society.
The last event on Jan 25 2011 attracted 280 donors and collected a total of 166 units of blood.
