There are simply not enough MRT trains to run at two-minute intervals throughout the morning and evening peak periods.
(Which is which now. First, not enought platforms. Then trains not enough carriages. Now, not enough trains!
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Minister of State (Transport) Josephine Teo said that, given the existing fleet, trains are only able to operate at a two-minute interval for 45 minutes during morning peak hours - between 7am and 9.30am - along the Yishun to Marina Bay stretch of the North South Line. Intervals at other parts of the network are still slightly longer than two minutes during the morning peak hours.
Responding to Mr Giam's question on whether the authorities plan ahead of time, Mrs Teo said that "there is advance planning but projecting demand and ridership is tricky business and hard to get 100-per-cent right."
Flower Vase, we just need the gahmen to get 50% right; we ARE aware 100% is too high an expectation of our ministers; don't kid yourself!
