If you put a figure on population in 2030 in the white paper, clearly this is an objective if not a goal.
If you argue 6.9 million is a projection, or to an extreme case, let say to cushion impending crisis and then saying debating the 6.9 million to a crescendo is carrying it out of context, then we should have a discussion paper prior to pushing it in the white paper .
Workers Party takes heart to debate professionally the white paper, the WP MPs and NCMPS can be seen exerting every fiber to defending the Singaporeans’ rights .
WP treats the white paper very seriously, and therefore proposed 5.9 million to counter the 6.9 million in 2030.
We could see very obviously that WP was very sincere and honest with their rendition on population and other issues, nothing to hide , just focus on helping the Singaporeans.
In the end, if the white paper has errors and DPM or PM starts saying sorry for this and that, how would Singaporeans look at ? What do you mean White paper is not a done deal ? Do we not have national conversation ? So many questions, so few answers.
So we talk so astronomically about the future, what about the present overcrowding issues and who to take care?
Workers Party has earned its respect from the ground, talk what is necessary, talk what the people is talking, and do things people want them to do !
One thing is for sure, the white Paper debate has elevated the Workers Party to another higher level better for the next GE.
This is what they call " Heaven Mandate" ! Miracle does happen !
