I have seen brilliant people who could not handle their ego. This guy is quite bright, and someone who would not have been in MTI and be a PPS without some grey matter in place. They must have sized him well. He is now dead politically. He will be remembered only too well.

Avoiding split votes is tactic 101 and anyone who has half a brain knows that. It tells you how simplistic the likes of Michelle, Jeannette and Nicole are. Jeanette and Michelle have no excuse. They would have known about TCB. When Ngiam Tong Dow spoke about having a totally monopoly in talent he covered the political landscape and TCB was one of them Dixie Tan was the other prominent one.

Yes, you are right... it really depends on whether TCB wins or not. If TCB loses, his supporters will definitely blame him.

Yah loh, i disagree too. Scroobal has made judgement errors in the forum as far as political views are concerned.
TT has his 35% hardcore PAP votes. TJS has his 25% hardcore opposition votes. TCB portrays himself as middle-ground and did manage to fish a lot of votes from both PAP and Opposition. I suspect had the "less hardcore" opposition supporters not switched their support to TCB, TJS could have won... but i can't say for sure. What i am sure is TJS has raised his profile via this PE campaign and it is a positive one. I think he will win something come next GE.

My sense is that he has been used by the regime and he does not know it. PEC out of 3 members has a former Intelligence Chief and another member whose direct subordinate is Nsthan's daughter. That intelligence chief was a direct report of Nsthan when he was head honcho of the SID and ISD. So you have 2 out of 3 with loaded dice. No bookie in the world will accept such a coincidence let alone accept bets.

Well, TJS himself declared during the SDP national day dinner (which he attended despite "no longer" being an SDP member) that his purpose in running for election was to "raise the profile of the opposition".

I think that more or less settles the point!

He didn't really look disappointed when he all but conceded defeat during the interview on CNA. He may think that 20-25% is a good result.

Obviously TKL and TJS are both political newbies. TCB and TT are both wily veterans who have fought numerous elections. TJS in particular has a lot of intelligence, especially with regards to economics and finance. But he lacks political acumen and tactical nous which are VERY important.

Ironically, it was TCB who trained TJS and his Holland-Bukit Timah team prior to his first-ever GE in May 2011. I wonder if they will still remain close friends after this debacle. They were known to be very close before. Dr Ang was one of Dr TCB's main grassroots leaders in Ayer Rajah for many years, and we all know that Dr Ang and TJS are very close.
