The suicide death rate in Singapore is currently 5.91 per 100,000 residents. 64.3% ate men.

I hope you're joking here. Long term unemployment, history of mental illness, divorce, conflict among family members under the same roof.
I am not joking and you do not understand my statement. All the reasons you gave have solutions, if only people can or are fortunate enough find them. A terminal illness has no cure, it's a death sentence so might as well end it all asap.

I attended to a lot of suicide cases before. Some of these do not have outright solutions and it takes a long time to resolve. If solutions are so easily available, suicide rates will not be high. Same for Japan and S.Korea. You're like thinking it's like a GCE O level mathematics problem.

There are solutions, that's why they are suicide hotlines to help. Long time to resolve, but it will be resolved. Life is filled with difficulties and challenges, need to find ways to navigate. People shouldn't see suicide as the only way out. BTW, I failed O level maths but thanks for the compliment.

I know of a young man who took his own life even though he was doing well in school; he just did not see any future for himself.

I know of a former classmate who was happily married and had a fulfilling career. However, he was laid off 1 day and life went downhill from that day on.

Mental health is a critical issue in S'pore owing to high-stress work and living in the most expensive city in the world. About 1 in 3 young people aged 15 - 35 experiencing severe symptoms of anxiety or depression.
