Soil erosion beneath East Coast Park path
Dec 05 2008

Soil erosion is threatening the foundation of a path at East Coast Park, and a my paper reader is concerned that it might eventually give way.

Mr Sam Chok, 42, assistant general manager of an electronics firm, noticed the path when he took his children to East Coast Park for a swim.

He sent this picture to my paper yesterday, adding that the path over the soil erosion was "an accident waiting to happen".

He said: "I'm worried (about) when the concrete will give way. The soil beneath half of the pavement on which the couple are standing has been eroded."

"We have been working with the Building and Construction Authority on measures to manage it. Works are expected to start next year."

NParks added that the red barricade pictured in the photograph is there to prevent pedestrians from walking onto the affected area.- my paper
