The Singapore Democrats will launch a landmark initiative called The SDP Promise. As the name suggests this is a pledge that the party and our candidates will make to our voters in the coming general elections.

Among some of the promises will be our MPs' pledge to contribute 50 percent of their allowance to help the party serve our constituencies more competently and constructively.

Another promise is to hold quarterly Town Hall meetings with our residents to listen to their views on policy national policy matters and take them to Parliament.

Such a promise is the first of its kind in Singapore and it is an invitation to our voters to track our performance on municipal matters as well as to hold our MPs accountable on issues which we will raise during our election campaign.

Unlike the PAP, the Singapore Democrats through The SDP Promise, will be a transparent party and we will be accountable to the people. In addition, our MPs are not motivated by money but the desire to serve.

After the launch, party members and activists will proceed to distribute The SDP Promise flyers to residents in the constituencies the SDP is contesting. All are welcome. Transport will be provided.

Did I see wrongly? GOMESZ JAMES? In 2001 he was part of the team that did not fill in GRC name in the election application form and the team was disqualified. In 2006, he did not submit the minority form and thought that he did and created a stir. Try as he might to stand in the most garang pose, but still cannot hide the goondoo look. For this election, the only thing I fear is that he may mistaken the election application form to be toilet paper and use it to wipe backside after toilet business.

Gomez claimed to have submitted his minority certificate form to the Elections department on April 24. He was accompanied by Worker's Party Chairman Sylvia Lim and was filmed by media cameras as he filled up the form. However, after the media and his Chairman left, he forgot to submit his forms. This was later evidenced by CCTV footage which showed that he kept the form in an envelope in his bag, and left the building without submitting the form.

On April 26, James Gomez called the elections department to enquire about the status of the form. He was indignant that the board said they had not received the form. He even reminded the ELD officer of the "consequences" of misplacing his form, pointing to the CCTV nearby.

On April 27, the Elections Department confirmed through CCTV that Gomez did not submit a "minority-race candidate application form", despite claiming on the eve of Nomination Day that he had done so.

Gomez was part of the WP team that tried to contest in Aljunied GRC during the 2001 GE. They were disqualified because of incomplete nomination papers. The team forgot to write down the name of the GRC in the form

Don't they have someone responsible to check paperworks are in place and another one to verify it was indeed done. I hope this round no such embarassment from any party, else they get 'suan' again for not being able to carry out a simple job .

Read my post, it clearly states that the idiot James Gomez put the papers into his bag AFTER SL and the media have left. I think he suddenly balls shrink didn't want to take part in the election that's why he didn't submit the form. He must have been banking on the election committee screw up excuse to work but didn't realize they had CCTV footage
