Most FnB joints fail anyway in peesai. How many last more then their rental contract? Even with 90% FTs working in a restaurant, it's only prolonging the inevitable.
New York New York( restaurant in peesai) used to hire as much as 75% FTs, now where are they? Some FnB joints in clarke quay, boat quay and Robetson Walk hire almost 100% FTs but how long do they last? Go back every 2 - 3 years and a new establishment will be in its place.
FnB business owners in peesai especially foreign ones are fooling themselves into thinking peesai is equivalent to say Sydney or New York or even Toronto. Major western cities have plenty of cash roaming the streets. Students, housewives, FTs, blue collar workers, etc..etc.. These people are paid a decent wage no matter how many hours they put in their jobs therefore spending most of it. The same group of people in peesai boh lui.
The true direct cost are the rents. The second are the non spending FTs flooding the tiny island, these people take up space but dont spend. Besides cheapo restaurants like sakea sushi and steamboat places, those middle to high end restaurants are fighting for a small slice of the pie. If one go to the places Ive mentioned on weekdays, it's hardly making money. How to keep a restaurant afloat when your business in only on weekends. Plus 40k or more for a 1k square foot(10 to 15 tables of 4) in rents, how many customer turnovers can they achieve on Saturdays and Sundays.
If a cuntry import cheapo workers to the tune of 2 million then you can expect 2 million cheapo spenders whom send most of their hard earn money back to their villagers. Peesai deserves what it paid for. FTs working in FnB outlets are also just waiting for the shit to hit the fan, restaurant closes and they will kanchiong looking for a new sponsor. So who gives a shit about them. Let them be cheated of their prime working life.
The best option is to immigrate and watch how peesai falters in the near future.
