Acc to the authoritative book by William Shirer, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (1200 pages which I have just finished reading), the Fuhreur shot himself in the mouth before his generals poured gasoline on his body and Eva's. This was his last request. The charred remains were believed to be scattered by Russian soldiers when the Chancellory fell. Eva took poison instead of shooting herself.

Only Goebbels followed him to his death, after being shot in the back of the head as requested in the garden. Himmel, Goehring, Jodl etc all deserted him.

I always say, if it doesn’t make sense it probably isn’t true. Do you believe this to be a fair and true account, as William Shirer was Jewish? With so many misconceptions and lies and no body no photos or evidence – I don’t buy it. Roads were used to accommodate light air craft i.e. Storch planes. So there is a possibility that he got away….Maybe?

In fact even POWs were reported to be accorded proper treatment according to protocol. Dead soldiers were even accorded burials with their respective state flags.
