Even though the FAP is the one that causes their misery. Why? such poor Sporeans will feel grateful for the peanuts they receive in aid from the FAP. Or they will feel fearful of losing even these peanuts if they vote against the FAP. And mind you they form 30% of all Sporeans. Such is the stranglehold the FAP has on the weak or daft mind of Sporeans. This also explains why the pre-GE carrots work again and again. And which makes one wonders if they are deserving the help of the Oppos.

Yap, just heard the story of a 80 yr old lady who has been struck blind by diabetes. She can hardly walk, and had to be wheeled to the polling centre by her son, who sometimes abuses her.

When asked who she'd voted for, the lady flashed a toothless grin, and unequivocally triumphed in Hokkien, "PAP! They are very good!"

My heart broke and I shed a tear when i heard her story.

Blind, and colonised by a tyrant who has robbed 2 generations of the freedom to think and act.

one of the deepest rooted desires of the poor and the otherwise marginalised....is to be accepted and be able to pass off as mainstream society. If they think mainstream society supports PAP, then of course they do to.

What PAP has done is perpetuate a myth that they are a party supported by the rich and the successful. There is a societal pressure for middle class and poor people to support the PAP because there is a perception that it is mainly 'losers who support opposition'

Sad but true. The easiest way to get the poor to vote opposition is to tell them that rich people vote opposition

think the poor are not ideological in any way. For this 80 yr old lady, it was more than just a sense of belonging; she is grateful to LKY for obvious reasons, but she lacks the benefit of hindsight.
Many of them like her are sincere, albeit sincerely misguided
