The Peranakan, a restaurant located on Orchard Road, has announced that its last day of operations will be on Sunday, Nov. 28.

The restaurant is also running a closing down sale, where all proceeds are donated to their non-profit organisation The Saturday Movement.

Closing on Nov. 28

On their Facebook, the restaurant shared that the final closure date was brought forward from Dec. 5 to Nov. 28, as "contractors need more time to reinstate."

In the post, the restaurant said that they were "overwhelmed" by hundreds of messages of encouragement and requests for the restaurant to open again.

After five years of operations, The Peranakan thanked its supporters for their "concern and love".

The sad part here is that while retail/F&B outlets are closing down one after another, the mall/property owners are still raking in the millions.
A huge part of it are owned by Temasek or GLC's -so end of day the peasants are still working their ass out for the PAP ministers who are earning millions no matter how much locals are jobless, suffering, or dying from covid,
How come millions of foreigners here are doing well while locals are suffering-?

The thing about so called non-profit organisation is that after deducting all operating expenses...it is actually loss making.

Peranakan food is overrated. Something that I’ll take maybe once in a decade.

I agree. Most peranakan food is gimmicky. It's basically nasi padang. They can charge higher due to good marketing strategy like the 'Violet Oon' restaurants.

Close it down and re-operate at any neighborhood center coffee shop, this might bring the owner some money instead

Sinkieland version is overrated. For the real deal, you have to go to Melaka.

In Melaka they truly embrace their Peranakan heritage. Here, they use Peranakans as a comedy punchline.
