Thailand is clamping down hard on fake branded goods. It's pretty difficult to find Burberry's, Mont Blanc etc. But one brand that seems to have escaped the eyes of the authorities is "Nautica".

Now, is Nautica a famous brand to begin with ?

I don't consider it branded in terms of sporting apparel. Maybe i am more mainstream and consider the likes of Nike, Reebok, Adidas etc to be branded, rather than Nautica.

I used to buy a couple of their long sleeved tees, design and quality not too bad. I think they are more in tandem with the likes of Gap, Banana Republic

Not sure whether its the brands' owners who are asking the police to claen it up. There was a also a clean up at the infamous "Silk Street" in Beijing not too long ago and some of the brands like "Coach" are not in the police's list so the stall owners still sell the fake ones openly. If you are looking for brands loke Gucci or Chanel which are in the list, you have to follow them to their van in the carpark.

Nautical stuff are pretty good in terms of quality but I find their size a little big and material a little too thick.

I have my underground suppliers in China to supply me with all the branded stuff like leather bags, apparels, shoes etc. which is at least 95% similar to the genuine ones. Come with warranty cards some more! But one thing I'll never get is imitation watches. Even if they look almost like the real ones. Just don't feel good wearing it.

Nautica is not so much of a brand but a ordinary label.
That is why it escape the scrutiny of the authorities .

Those brands that are regularly fictured in fashion magazine are "branded" . Go for quality stuff with a good name. For those "Branded" brands , you are paying for the marketing and advertisements

Nautica is a CHina Man Brand.. i think the company and label was started by a Chinese man in the States... and ya, its only a ordinary brand n not something exclusive like Nike or Adidas..

In North America, Nautica brand does appear prominently at many upscale retail chain stores. I've never bought that brand though, I don't shop at those places.

Cheers!
