How naive are we. This guy took over as CEO PA and also the Returning Officer for the Elections on the same day in June. He is heading the very organisation whose staff handled all the arrangements for transport and meals for PAP supporters attending PAP rallies. Remember the email from the Malay female staff from PA notifying grassroots leaders of the transport arrangements.

Yet we have young Singaporeans who are enamored by his monotonous nasal tone and consider themselves as his fan. Are we that dumb?

How does a highly educated individual who has achieved much academically and career, immersed in 1st world democratic exposure via education in Harvard etc is prepared to sacrifice his soul to do something that is blatantly wrong.

What is Philip Jeyaretnam who sits on Public Service Commission doing about public senior officials. Do we not separate the Civil Service who are to serve all Singaporeans and not the interest of one Political party.

Actually, this is one that u cannot blame entirely on the PAP. It used to be that long ago, Old Goat made a point of appointing a neutral person to be the chief return officer just so there is perception of fairness. This was the days before they cotton on to using libel suits against the oppos. The neutral person was usually a senior civil servant, superscale rank, and did not belong to any political party nor attended rallies or events of any political parties. As u can appreciate, as time wore on, more and more civil servants became professional porlumpars and joined the PAP in the hopes that it will further their career. It came to the point where it was hard to find a senior civil servant that was neutral and that wanted to be a chief return officer. hence, Old Goat had to arrow some PAP faithfuls like Yammy to take the job.

To be fair to the Sinkie sheep and PAPpies, not all of them are sycophants. Many of them genuinely can't tell the difference between the interest of Singaporeans and the interest of PAP. They seriously believe that they are being patriotic by selling their soul to the father, the son and the holy Goh.

Agree. Thus the naive tag. They can't separate the state from the PAP.

Most of them chose not to know the difference. Regrettably Singaporeans are a selfish lot and that is sad. I believe it is because of the 52 years under the PAP rule that we have become a nation devoid of compassion, materialistic and lacking of soul. Money above all else has become their god.

So what if there is a severe conflict of interest?

This is a 'democratic' country. You did get to vote on voting day. Conflict or no conflict, the fact still remains that the majority of your countrymen choose to vote for the MIW. There is no question about that and you just have to live with it or leave. If you are being fooled into believing that everyone will vote for the opposition just be reading all those moaning from the internet and listening to those taxi drivers, then its your farking business for being so naive. And you are even more naive if you think that a PA CEO can alter the election results.

Alternatively, if you want to want to make a difference in the country, you can put yourself in the frontline to fight against the MIW. Do you have the balls for it? Are you game to be another Chen Show Mao or prefer to just hide in your foreign country? If not just shut up. The only person in this forum who has the guts is GMS (nevermind about his agenda) and he is always attack by losers who watches lame Taiwan TV serials and visit Thai whores.

Don't put me in the league of Iveberg or RonRon. I don't think I can live up to it.

Try pronouncing his name in Malay from right to left and see what you got?

U mean Mee Soto Ayam? :D

Those who have met Yam many years ago will know that he didn't use to speak with a monotonous nasal tone.
He spoke in a, errrrr, how shall we say, errrrrr............. a rather effeminate manner. :o
Of course, that was way back when he was still a "3 crabber". :D

hahaha....his voice and tone were affected after he had some operation......

hahaha...don't know why you need to start another thread just to expose that you are out of depth....
1. PA is a stat board, with PM as Chairman.
CEO is usually a civil servant of DS seniority.

2. The returning officer does not influence the election results in any way.
He is just the face announcing the results.

3. if you do not know that all this while, PA (the same for NTUC) is an instrument to futher Papee cause, then you are not fit to comment on Singapore politics.

So what is new?

I suspect that most genuinely are not aware. I am even aware of one retired SAF Major who has no clue the role of Returning Officer. He honestly thought that this chap just collect the results from an Election Dept and then make the announcement on the mic just like an MC. I take the point that most people don't consider a sign-on army major as not well educated and basically unemployable but it does give an idea that the word "naive" is quite apt.

There are 4 crucial Acts of Parliament that the officer holder has to administer, enforce including the constitution for both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections. Not to mention that his given impartiality towards the conduct of elections from nominations, polling, rallies, and political donations and many other key areas. Yet at the same time, his staff from PA are issuing emails to grassleaders on transport, food etc for PAP rallies for the elections.

=> The assumption for the efficacy of the democratic process is the existence of fair and free elections? Given the extensive gerrymandering, lopsided reporting by the 154th party newsletter, vote buying, dilution of Sporeans' votes with foreign ones, unequal application of the election laws, is this assumption still valid?

hahaha......that the CEO of PA is appointed as RO had been the case for many years already.
has the Opps parties made it an issue.....are they all naive??? Go figure.
some "ge kiang" has been carried to demi-god status....
it sure hurts to be repeatedly pointed out as a BS by an uneducated kuku......
in life 2 things will always hold truth in the long run....
if you smoke too much.....you are bound to be caught with your BS
if you ge kiang too much.....you are also bound to be caught with your BS

No such thing. He is highly influential when it comes to making other decision such as acceptance of nomination papers, validity of vote marking, donations etc.
hahaha.....yam is not doing his job in rejecting the nomination papers.....
oops i forgot some BS will claim that he was told to close both eyes.....
how naive are Singaporean.

Please lah, where did you get your info from? As far as I know, Yam was CEO PA many years before the last GE in May. And it's a constitutional traditional to have CEO PA become the RO. More importantly, how would the RO influence the result? If he can really influence the results, you think George Yeo will still lose?

Most glaring example of act of omission is the Kate Spade case.
