Meals are served in authentic banana leaves as well as these classic brightly-coloured plastic plates that you’d find in any roadside stall here in Malaysia.

It seems that Malaysia’s famous Penang nasi kandar craze has made its way to the busy streets of Tokyo, Japan.
“Zero Two Nasi Kandar Tokyo” recently opened its doors in January and is credited by the Japanese food website, Japanese Heart, as the first-ever nasi kandar speciality store serving authentic Malaysian-Indian cuisine in the country.
The restaurant’s main course is a plate of nasi kandar served with at least six different choices of curry and all-time favourite side dishes like hard-boiled eggs, fried chicken, fried shrimp, squid, lamb cutlets, ladies’ finger and more.
