Serious The MacBook Pro Dragon Slayer is here

Looks like you saw the light earlier. I had to learn the hard way - crashes, infected, slowed programmes etc.

You wouldn't believe it, but I've never installed an anti-virus program in my Macs – laptop or desktop. Ever. I'm sure there are many Mac users out there like me.

Never had a virus or worm or bot infect or cripple my system. Only the odd irritating ad malware that was easily removed by deleting some files.

But I use Time Machine to back up my mac to an SSD. Important documents are also backed up to a remote server. Can't stress backing up enough.

Looking at a few options at external HDD. Such as a 4tb Western Digital USB Drive or faster G technology Thunderbolt drive. Waiting for Black Friday to see what deals are available.

However for my current purpose the 512 SSD is adequate, as a large screen trading platform, for reading news, watching online news, YouTube, etc. So I won't be keeping irreplaceable data on the iMac.

For downloading stuff I still have my PC which is equipped with a smaller SSD drive & various large capacity HDDs. This is the machine which I use to download all kinds of video.

I'm still using Win 7 which I think adequate. I avoid Win 8, Win 10, Google etc because these os are mining people's behaviour & data. I notice that the current MAC OS takes security more seriously. Whenever I download external programs e.g. Firefox, I have to go into the system to allow it.

Can do this on a MAC because the MAC OS is more robust. Apple also releases updates to plug any security holes when they discover them.

Same approach on both counts. I recall the sorry days when I begin to look for new Anti-Virus software after a zero day attack.

USB!!!!! Yes! But my preference is still Surface 5. Apple is crapped now. I used to have up to 8 Macs at home and everything apple products but I've not looked back since I switched from iPhone to Huawei. Those using Apple products, don't you find whatever you're using slowly down after each OS update? Overpriced, lousy features and outdated functions.

Surface series have small screen. I'm looking for 15.6". The other option is HP x360.

I had 2 Mac products - 2003 Powerbook G4 notebook and 2008 iMac. The iMac served me well, but not the G4.

google has (re)launched its pixelbook to compete with apple’s macbook products. every wannabe copies and follows apple. and they will lose.

iPhone = Gay phone
MacBook = Gay notebook

for auto backup, i recommend the 3tb or 4tb time capsule from apple. eventually your ssd will run out of room if you store many video files. you’ll need additional icloud storage (not free) but for faster backup the time capsule is a godsend. it is also a wi-fi base station.

Because I change my Macbook almost every year time capsule is really godsend, a breeze to migrate and with regular use of you're not afraid your Macbook crash which is like zero chance\ still you have the peace of mind.

almost all coders and software related workers in sillycon valley use macbook pro. even googlers and microshit programmers use macbook pro exclusively to write and test codes for their chromeshit and windowshit software respectively. google gives away pixel 2 phones and pixelbooks to their employees in both mountain view and sunnyvale campuses for personal use, and there are hardly any takers. no joke.

i also use it as a wi-fi extender as coverage is not consistent on all floors from the isp wi-fi router. the time capsule can be bridged to the isp wi-fi router and act as a 2nd wi-fi hotspot running on a separate rf channel.

Kindda like my Touch Bar feature, useful in presentation and switch tabs and best is you can set it.
