Those who are old enough to recall, Iran underwent a change of governance in the early '80.

Prior to that, I remember my Malay friends are not so pious, religious identity is not an obvious factor, we are all Singaporeans, we eat on the same table, we drank beer and I remember they don't go sembahyang every Friday. I remember we planned our leaves to play football together! Honestly I don't recall tudung being a part of Malay ladies' dress code.

Those were the true integration days.

I think it is roughly after the mid '80s, there is a prominent Islamic movement and suddenly everyone wears tudung, and insist on Halal food and being Islam means becoming a separate entity. It has reach a stage where an innocent discussion of Malays/Islam by non-Islam people is seen as an attack of Islam.

Again, if my facts are inaccurate, correct me. Your views appreciated, if this discussion is sensitive, moderators please remove. Thank you.

You blasphemous gay dog :oIo:

Islam is a peaceful religion. I demand the Moderators removed this thread immediately:mad:
Iran is a great Muslim nation and has helped to tremendously reduce the sub-human un-Godly gay population on Earth.

The name calling is uncalled for. Nobody else note the changes in our society through the decades?

The Iranian Rev did have a profound influence on Islam - you are right. The ousting of pro-American Shah, replaced by a conservative Ayatollah gave moslems as a whole confidence to assert themselves. The minority "rich" and forward looking moslems had to take a back seat since though (I'm referring to Moslems in the western countries), and christians in Egypt found themselves threatened.

In Sg, the Mat Rockers found themselves blasphemous.

I agree with Clinton666 that Islam is a peaceful religion, but not all Moslems follow Islam. They just conveniently hide behind its shrouded veil.

Cheers!

It should be remembered that the Iranians (formerly known as Persians) are totally different from the Malay Muslims.
They have a different school of thought too.
The Iranians are Shites whereas the Malays are predominantly Sunnis
The Iranians hails from a very illustrious and brave race. King Darius II and Cyrus of Persia were great Iranian leaders. So was Shahanshah Reza Pahlavi (married to Empress Farah Diba) until his overthrow by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in the mid 70's. The Shah fled to Egypt where he subsequently died.
The Iranians embraced Islam much more earlier then the Malays, who only did so about 500 years ago, when Paramaswara of Malacca embraced Islam.
The rise of Islamic piety occurred during the reign of Khomeini and remains to this very day.
The Malays are a peaceful race whereas the Iranians are hardy warriors.
