Do you find yourself asking the question "Why" frequently?
Or do you place more importance on asking "Who, what, when, where"?
Let's say that someone asks you to go and meet someone and shake his hand.
Do you first ask yourself "Who am I supposed to meet" or 'Who is asking me to meet this person"? or "Where am I now or What occasion is this"?
Or do you ask yourself "Why am I supposed to meet this person and shake his hand"?
For me, I always ask "Why?" first. Perhaps that's why I always suffered in the army. :)
In every situation or problem you face, isn't it important to understand "why?" For example, why is the situation this way? Why ahs this become a problem? Why is that person behaving this way?
Or do some people ignore the "why", because it is more convenient and less taxing on the brain to do so?

....

Asking WHY is indeed taxing to the brain.

Because it forces one to think. And guess what, nobody like to think.

Only few think. Perhaps you are one of them jw5.

One who understands WHY... will lead to the next question, HOW.

And it's the HOW that will lead you to the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN... eventually turning it into an educated action...

So, asking WHY is truly good for thinking, and naturally it leads to HOW...

About 8 yrs ago, I used to work for a japanese co. And the boss is the 1st person to taught me 5W1H. And i used it on virtually everything. And yes, "why" is the most important of all the others. But not everything i do has a reason. So "how" comes next.

just now I was reading the thread "Is this a mirror site for 3 in 1 Kopitiam?"
but the next moment it's gone without trace

WHY hor ? WHY?

There are not enough "Why" being asked in Singapore. It all started from the Singapore education system. Why do we need to study? Why do we need to get A1. Why do we need to go JC, Uni, etc etc. To politics, Why is PAPpee in power? Why the opposition can't be voted in? Why are there so many FTs in the country? If enough people started asking why then things may change.

Asking "why" can sometimes be inconvenient or even detrimental in the pursuit of wealth.
That's why people don't ask why.

Why do so many people believe everything the pappies say?

Why? Because the sky is so high. :D

Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom,
and also madness and folly.
What more can the king’s successor do
than what has already been done?
I saw that wisdom is better than folly,
just as light is better than darkness.
The wise have eyes in their heads,
while the fool walks in the darkness;
but I came to realize
that the same fate overtakes them both.

Then I said to myself,

“The fate of the fool will overtake me also.
What then do I gain by being wise?”
I said to myself,
“This too is meaningless.”
For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered;
the days have already come when both have been forgotten.
Like the fool, the wise too must die!
