The realisation of elitism by our young start early in schools?

'Make typing compulsory and free.'
MADAM LIM PUEH JOO: 'I feel sorry for Madam Lim Yau Leng, who wrote the letter, 'School work'. It is unfortunate that teachers expect their pupils to hand in typed work as a requirement. If this is expected, the Ministry of Education should make typing a compulsory course early in primary school, and for free. Learning to type now is as important as learning to read. Project work should also assess pupils' resourcefulness rather than their willingness to buy fancy materials to impress. There should be a cap of, say, $5 to be spent on a project. Pupils should be encouraged to use whatever they have on hand so that they learn to be resourceful, because this is a quality that gives a long-term edge in human resource development.'

ah joo, ah leng ...

did u noe dat kid's project work requires so much resosfulness dese days dat parents hv 2 do dem 4 their kids? ...

Apparently this Madam Lim has not he faintest idea that typing software programs are available in the junior sections of all NLB branches. All it takes is just initiative. Unless there is no computer at home, which is another issue all together.
