日前于班加罗尔举行的2019届印度航展真可谓是惊喜连连,印度首款国产5代机AMCA的初始设计方案公之于众,采用鸭式布局的印度首款国产4代半机LCA MK2的完整模型也被曝光在了镁光灯之下。和这两位相比,同样参加了这届航展的印度国产航空发动机“卡佛里”就显得低调多了。尽管也曾顶着个“LCA和AMCA专用动力”的威武名号,但如今的卡佛里却已是英雄迟暮,只能窝在航展的角落里暗自神伤。
而将卡佛里从宠儿给打成弃子的并非别人,正是它的“生父”——印度国防研究与发展组织(DRDO)。据外媒当地时间2月20日引援的DRDO的官方说法,尽管相关研发单位仍然希望看到卡佛里作为一款航空发动机出现在飞行器上,但它将不会再被AMCA和LCA MK2这两款正在研发当中的新战机认作是未来的动力。

可惜嘴上吹出花来也没法在现实中结成果实。真实世界中的卡佛里依旧烂泥扶不上墙,印度空军早在2014年就以“多项指标不合格”为由丑拒了卡佛里,不过DRDO还不打算对它放弃治疗。虽然积贫积弱的印度航空工业已经没法再让卡佛里起死回生,但所幸法国人还愿意伸出援手。乘着当时印法“阵风”战机采购案的东风,卡佛里一度还有咸鱼翻身的势头。这个消息也让一些印度人重燃了希望,一些印度军事观察家此前还曾乐观的认为,AMCA早晚能用上卡佛里。
