KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu has instructed his ministry to conduct an immediate investigation into allegations that three Armed Forces personnel are still serving former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein.
He said action would be taken if they were found to have violated existing rules.

"I came to know from a news portal that three Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) staff are still serving as escorts to Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
"As such I have ordered an immediate investigation to be carried out and action will be taken if there is any breach of existing practices and regulations," he said on his official Twitter account on Saturday (Aug 25).
Mohamad was commenting on a news portal report that two Navy special operations force (Pascal) officers and a commando were still serving as escorts to Hishammuddin, who was no longer holding the portfolio following Barisan Nasional’s defeat in the 14th general election.
It was also claimed that the three were drawing salaries from ATM as well as from Hishammuddin.

Meanwhile Hishammuddin on his Twitter post said the three ATM personnel had close ties with him and his family, having served them for a long time.
“They are with me for a temporary period," he said.
Hishammuddin said he had also offered them employment but that they would have to resign from ATM with immediate effect if they accepted the offer.

An ally of former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak was charged with graft Monday, the latest figure from the toppled scandal-plagued government to be targeted in an anti-corruption drive.
Since its shock victory in May elections, the government of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has filed dozens of corruption charges against Najib, his wife Rosmah Mansor and a string of other ex-officials associated with the long-ruling former regime.

On Monday, Musa Aman, the influential former chief minister of the eastern state of Sabah, was charged with 35 counts of graft for allegedly receiving $63 million in bribes while awarding timber concessions.
He was one of many entrenched politicians from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party to be unseated at the polls by a Mahathir-led reformist alliance.
Musa, 67, was arrested by anti-graft officials and brought to a Kuala Lumpur court where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
"I will fight this case to clear my name," Musa told reporters as he exited court after being released on a bail of two million ringgit ($479,000).
Musa formerly headed UMNO in Sabah, Malaysia's second biggest state that is rich in oil, gas and timber. He is the older brother of former foreign minister Anifah Aman.
The once-powerful UMNO, the main party in the Barisan Nasional coalition that had ruled Malaysia since its independence from Britain in 1957, has been rocked by desertions after its humiliating defeat.
Former Prime Minister Najib, who is out on bail, faces around 38 charges, most related to allegations that he and his cronies plundered billions of dollars from sovereign wealth fund 1MDB.
Among those who have been charged in a widening anti-corruption drive are a former deputy prime minister, a former treasury secretary general and the ex-chief of a shadowy spy agency.

Thinking of this, is scary...political party clinging on to power that is eroding fast will use the Armed Forces in which they have control of to subdue oppositions & many innocent people will die, the same that voted for these people. The 70% does not see the danger of this in the future...it maybe today, tomorrow or in the future!

PUTRAJAYA: Rosmah Mansor, wife of former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak, is to face charges in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Thursday (Nov 15), according to her lawyer K Kumaraendran.
“I do not want to take any questions. I can only confirm that my client will be charged in the Jalan Duta court tomorrow,” he told reporters at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters.

Rosmah will be charged at 3pm, he added.


Rosmah spent almost four hours at the MACC on Wednesday giving her statement on a contract for the supply of solar energy to schools in Sarawak.
When asked if the charges related to her statements to MACC today, Kumaraendran told The Star that "you will find out tomorrow in court".

In June, reports emerged of suspected irregularities in the award of a RM2.5 billion contract for a solar energy supply project in Sarawak, alleging that a car rental company in Bintulu was given the contract in January 2017 to supply solar energy to 369 schools in the interior of the state.
The car rental company, Jepak Holdings, had no track record in the industry, the Malay Mail reported.
Rosmah, 66, already faces 17 charges, including receiving proceeds of illegal activities as well as failure to declare income tax. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Her husband Najib faces 38 charges ranging from money laundering to abuse of power and criminal breach of trust.

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was on Wednesday (Nov 14) arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He will be charged on Thursday over dubious land deals relating to Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Tengku Adnan, a member of parliament for Putrajaya and former UMNO secretary-general, was arrested at 3.25pm on Wednesday, shortly after arriving at the MACC headquarters to give a statement.
According to the Star, there were allegedly 97 dubious transactions involving more than 270ha of City Hall land worth RM5.63 billion (US$1.34 million).
Tengku Adnan had said that he was called up at least 12 times by the MACC to provide information on the land transactions under the previous administration.
He said he had nothing to do with the approval of the sale of land during his term as minister of the federal territories, which comprise Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

"When I took over the (federal territories) ministry in 2013, I handed over land matters to the Prime Minister’s Department. I had nothing to do with any approval concerning land in the federal territory," he told parliament last month.
Several former ministers from UMNO have been charged since the Pakatan Harapan won the May general election.
Former prime minister Najib Razak faces abuse of power and money laundering charges in relation to the investigation on state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

According to MACC, Tengku Adnan will be jointly charged with businessman Tan Eng Boon at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 2.30pm on Thursday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia on Thursday (Nov 15) accused Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak, on charges of soliciting and receiving bribes involving RM189 million (US$45.12 million) from a company pitching for a government project.

Prosecutors who charged Rosmah with two counts of corruption said the payments concerned a RM1.25 billion (US$298 million) solar project in schools in Malaysia's eastern state of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo.

According to prosecutors, Rosmah sought a bribe of RM187.5 million in 2016 from an executive of Jepak Holdings, and received a bribe of RM1.5 million the following year from the official.

She pleaded not guilty to both the charges.

Meanwhile, Rizal Mansor, a former special officer to her husband, was also expected to be charged with four counts over a project to supply and install solar energy in schools in Sarawak, involving a sum of RM5.5 million.

Former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was also expected to face two corruption charges, after he was arrested on Wednesday.

In addition, businessman Tan Eng Boon was to be charged with paying bribes totalling RM1 million to Tengku Adnan in connection with the sale of land belonging to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Rosmah spent almost four hours at the MACC on Wednesday giving her statement on a contract for the supply of solar energy to schools in Sarawak.

She already faces 17 other charges, including receiving proceeds of illegal activities as well as failure to declare income tax. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Her husband Najib faces 38 charges ranging from money laundering to abuse of power and criminal breach of trust, mostly over a multi-billion-dollar corruption scandal at state fund 1Malaysian Development Berhad (1MDB).
