The comments by Leong Sze Hian is pertinent as it does indicate a trend. He mentioned that when he visited the polyclinic and the hospital, he noted that the receptionist, nurse, X-ray technician and the doctor are foreigners.

Something some of us have not seen in what ever world that we are in. I got to thinking and asked around. Those who come from a elitist background tend not to see any foreigners when they seek medical help. Not by choice. It seems that only locals.

One wonders if our best doctors are locals and they treat the "best" of Singaporeans while the rest of Singapore gets the those from the Philippines, India etc.

Is there a divide and are we seeing 2 worlds emerging.

Emergence? Are you Rip Van Winkle

The two Singapore phenomenon EMERGED at least ten years ago. It's been like that for the last ten years AT LEAST

Not surprising. it's the logic of economic laws.

Doctors and medical staff are underpaid in the govt service, so they migrate to the private sector, where the rich and famous and powerful go when they are sick.

FTs are allowed in to replenish those exited, and are found mainly manning the middle to lower class wards, where the hoi polloi heartlanders are. Hence the poorer locals see only FTs.

It used to be Pinoys only, then the rest-Burmese, PRCs, Injuns- came.
