The drink driving offence threshold will be lowered from 35 micrograms to 15 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

In Parliament on Feb. 27, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sim Ann said evidence shows driving impairment occurs at lower alcohol levels, with crash risks increasing as consumption rises.

She mentioned that the revised limit aligns Singapore with Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

Legislative amendments will be introduced later this year.
