keep harping on past achievements is not healthy....like what PAP is doing.
I dun see the french,Spanish,Dutch or whoever still clinging on past granduer like the British

Reason that these others do not much of a past to cling on to is that they did not grant their colonies independence. They got thrown out. For example the Spanish in the Philippines were thrown out by the Filipino rebels with the assistance of the US. US did not colonise the Philippines but in a way Philippines became a vassal state of the US. It is said that the Filipino rebels were among the first to engage in guerilla warfare which the North Vietnamese used so successfully against the Americans.
