Li Hongyi does not seem keen. Li Haoyi is a full-time programmer and understand an ace in Scala open source. That leaves LHY's son. One is in equity and is "gay friendly" and the other is completing his PHD in Stanford. Its the last that I believe that the family is grooming and has the aptitude for this. Also a highly rated orator.

The stage has also not been set for any of them to brought into politics. The other prospect at least in my view is Lee Suan Yew and Pamelia's daughter whose is a well regarded cook, author and now an entrepreneur for peranakan sauces. Has got the right level of EQ to engage people and no airs. Used to be hotshot investment banker having worked in NY, HK, Singapore for pretty much all the big boys. Just quit investment banking to do something meaningful.

bro Scroo , can check whether PM Lee eldest son LHY is one of the " very strong " candidates ? tk u.

It is possible the PAP may be field a female grassroots leader, who is married.
From the media, the PAP has indicated that they have a few strong candidates.

Ho. Ching is the natural choice. Residents of botak buttock will benefit from her ability to lead them into SG100

Will the PAP win the Bukit Batok By-elections? Yes, most certainly and in a big way. It does not matter which candidate or which opposition party contest this election, the win will be clear for the following reasons
- there are currently no "burning issues" in BB or in Singapore .
- BB is a new estate and has been been carefully managed from the word go.
- No opposition party has maintained a presence there or world the ground.
- Opposition "momentum" came to an abrupt stop at the close of GE 2015, very similar to GE 1997 when the momentum in 1991 gave outstanding results.

So should the opposition take part in the elections or wait and let the wounds heal and re-build. Now that 48.2% garnered by SDP in 1991 is unlikely to be repeated it what next. It is important to note that any elections is an opportunity to create awareness of issues, highlight the party and its candidates, its manifesto and plans and more importantly to hold the PAP to account.

I predict a 70% win for the PAP. Nothing to piss off the electorate since the last GE. No Chan Chun Sing trying to act schoolboy clever. No Lim Swee Say clowning attempt at new lexicon. No Grace Fu whining over lack of a pay rise. Just a bit of irritation from a newly minted surgeon turned politician trying to give some anal lies over petrol pricing issues. Yup and yawn...definitely a clear win for sure. But then I must allow gay albino cunts a chance to counter my premise.

The by election will be fought on the ground of who is the better candidate to look after Bukit Batok constituency. The PAP has to do the difficult task of convincing that the next PAP candidate will not fail in moral integrity because this was why the by election was called. Pap cannot pride themselves that they are the white knights standing on high moral ground. Conversely SDP Dr Chee has to garner enough trust in his leadership and integrity to be able to win the hearts of the residents of Bukit Batok. SDP now stands as a credible Opp party after Dr Chee made a humble comeback in the last GE. It will be a close fight. I tip for SDP to win.

Although I would prefer the SDP (either Paul T, or CSJ) to contest and win,
but based on current info, it looks like the MIW is likely to win.

Pray and hope that a non-PAP candidate will win.

Bro, you pick up on Chan's interesting comment. As the party whip it is his duty to get them in line but that is on policy and parliamentary matters. His use of the word "decisive" has added more weight that this is not just normal business. For an army general to use the word decisive for a marital affair!!

Agree on 70%.

Actually 1991 and 2011 taught us that anything is possible. Ever thought that a PAP PM and the son of the old will apologise for the conduct of his govt and his party. Short of dropping to his knees, this was really bad. He was begging for votes that he did not deserve.

Will PAP field this candidate in the BB By-election?

To my mind, even if the PAP presented a newbie with a university degree, a decent senior ranking job, a family man and his or her EQ is 50% better than the anal doctor, they will still get 70% of the votes. The caveat is that he or she is has to be Chinese 9thats life) and a born Singaporean. The only issue is that David seat came from party member quota so no sure if they will need to get a party activist to keep the party arseholes happy.

The above is based on the fact that I do not see Vincent W or Paul Thambyah contesting. Both have credentials and are genuine socialists and care for the less fortunate and not politicians per se. So no charismatic contestants in sight.

Please do not discount the pussies

Now you know why the rats over-ran BB, the MP was very busy with the PUSSY or maybe PUSSIES!...& they blamed it on the canines & they sure are damn unhappy...for it was the PUSSY WHO DID IT!

They have to field a candidate that does not go gaga over PA "mangoes", " pussy" & whatever PA have...preferable a certified CELIBATE who does not celebrate once a while or a certified Eunuch. If a woman, must not have inclination or orientation in the wrong direction in the 'compass'....

They have to start having an internal, anti-hanky panky intelligence unit to observe all PA, RC, CC & whatever C's...activities especially those involving the MP's whether male or female....nip the 'bud' before it grows...in order to restore the INTEGRITY of the PAP, once upon a time, people respected without hesitation....LKY is still the best on this, his 99.9% proof is still the best!....

I hope that no other opposition candidates throw in hats into the ring now that SDP has declared its intention to contest. WP has lot to fix in their own house and need to re-gain trust and ground that they lost. And this is not the time to do it. I am glad they were made known their stance real quick. I doubt Benjamin will either and GMS is also not as SDP is contesting.

Chee should know that the PAP is going to win for the reasons cited in my earlier post in this thread and therefore should use it as an opportunity to blood a promising candidate for the next GE. Use this By-elections as a platform to expose the PAP for what they are. Do not go into SDP version of alternative policies as no new Govt is going to be formed. In it should be about what the new SDP candidate can offer as an MP and all the wrong things that PAP has done. Chee is a poor strategist at the best of times and hopefully someone will help him this time.

It will be a big mistake if he contest this himself as he was severely burnt in 2001 in this geography while leading his A team. This was well before he commenced on his "spiral down" strategy for politics. He and the team got 20.2%. Note even SDP's Indian candidate got 26.4% in GE2015 and they had the arsehole foreign talent in the race as well.

Paul Thambyah should be kept for the next good opportunity. Overexposure is not a good thing and in this case it is bad.

Agree on the humble comeback in 2015 and I understand the PT helped him with this and not the usual sycophants from the ex Wp days. I don't think it is winnable. Chee does not have the grassroots nuance that the likes Low or Png has. If the people of Bukit Timah / Holland don't get it , Bukit Batok will not. That part of the World was worked heavily by the PAP when they had issues with Barisan and the communists so the ground work has always been very tight since the 60s. So it is not just the Chee. The odds are heavily staked against the opposition. Why do you think the PAP Branch secretary until 2012 was an Indian whose father was a rehabilitated Barisan detainee.

Met him recently. Driving an Audi. That was before DO's resignation.

Was talking with a friend last night about DO, BB as well as coming BE. He told me not to rule out ROM. That got me confused. What does Registry of Marriages got to do with topics we were discussing? I was later told ROM stands for RETURN OF MURALI. Any chance of that from your assessment?
