It seems like the SDP has been targeted so often in this forum that they must be doing a good job! Definitely much better than NSP, SPP, SDA, DPP, RP or even PAP because nobody give a shit about them in this forum - except GMS but he invited those attention by his posts. If SDP name keeps popping up like that, then they must be doing all the right things for the opposition. Or issit?

If most of the voters in the constituencies they represented have/had been happy with them, then that should speak for itself.

I doubt CST/LTK have spent time engaging in boastfulness.

Voters were unhappy with SPP/Mr Chiam/Mrs Chiam in PP and BTP.

if you equate getting "targeted" to "doing a good job" then the white scums must be the champion by a big margin... or at least wp should be seen way, way better than sdp....

No doubt the WP is doing a great job. The white scums needs some lessons from the people. Somehow the SDP is seen as a threat to the status qua - and thus all the targeting on SDP. It is worthwhile to take a look at what the SDP have been doing and see why people are taking pot shots at SDP regularly and not NSP, DPP, etc.

we could all interpret what sdp has been doing in our view... a) doing fantastically, seen as a threat and therefore attracting smears and stirs b) scoring spectacular own goals for all to see such that not many people could resist condemning it. take rabid gohms aka mr i'm-always-correct aka mr i-always-have-the-last-word. his is an excellent example of the latter though 1 could argue it could be the former

but i'd like to just look at the election results as the final conclusion

CST was first elected in 1984; re-elected in 1988; and, in 1991 he led his SDP to take 2 further seats. You might be unaware but CST was the architect of the so-called by-election effect strategy in 1991 that secured the opposition a total of 4 seats (3 SDP; and, 1 WP). Others had also called for the opposition to contest just under half the seats in 1991, but it was CST who had the profile and stature to get all opposition parties to agree to do so. And who was it who then lost the 2 SDP seats subsequently?

he should have gone for a grc much earlier is my point. he being the most senior opposition should be leading the charge. 4 seats are a drop in the ocean. any grc would have ensured more. now everyone sees it as the charge of the light brigade. how does that instill confidence? its over for him i'm afraid. he left it much too late

A lot of the pot shots that SDP has taken is actually self-inflicted.

Anyways, it is WP that is now taking the heat from the PAP IB (not that SDP has been left alone, though - just that focus has changed to WP).
