What I think - the PAP is barking up the wrong tree. Although the Internet is becoming a strong alternative to MSM in the dissemination of information, the key loss of support for the PAP is not this but something else. You don't need the Internet to tell you how the govt policies are affecting you.

You should start making preparations for GE 2016 as it is only 3 years away.

Better start working on your computer shop business. If their minimum annual income is $60K, you better be making $5K a month net profit selling those computer parts.

What I think - the PAP is barking up the wrong tree. Although the Internet is becoming a strong alternative to MSM in the dissemination of information, the key loss of support for the PAP is not this but something else. You don't need the Internet to tell you how the govt policies are affecting you.

As a young couple, this is what you'd see:
(a) Need to wait 3-4 years for BTO flat before I can start family. In the meantime, a lot of things can happen. Relationship can become under strain, breakups become more likely.
(b) Cost of living does not match income
(c) 30 year mortgages (lifelong debt) just to own a 99-year lease to small pigeonhole
(d) Boss always threatening that I can be easily displaced by foreigners if I don't put in extra hours, take too much sick leave, etc.
(e) Overcrowded train system and frequent breakdowns, resulting in loss of business and income opportunities.

As a parent this is what you'd see:
(a) Younger generation seems 10x more stressed at school than my generation, they don't learn things the proper way anymore, they are force fed, and those who don't make the cut are dropped, foreign kids keep replacing our own kids until our own kids need to go ITE and Poly instead of UNI.
(b) Perpetual lack of employment opportunities due to foreigners and cheap labour.
(c) Can never withdraw CPF, all money eaten up by PAP
(d) Very high medical cost, potentially bankrupting whole family
(e) No recognition for years spent in NS/reservist. Dunno wat serving country for anymore.
(f) Loss of national identity and pride. Unable to recognize the country I grew up in. Feel I am 2nd class outcast in a land of 1st class foreigners.
(g) No joy in looking forward to my later years.

While I do like that the two-thirds majority of the PAP be broken down, I feel we should not let our pessimism go overboard.
Young couples:
a), b), e) As WP's LTK said, some things take time to be put right.
c) Most of this is CPF money which cannot be withdrawn.
d) Hawker stall owners would love this. Speak to them. Currently, most will tell you some of their workers take leave and report for work as and when they like.
As parents:
a) Is this really really true. Double confirm? From where?
b) Really, how come some workers take leave or don't show up for work as and when they wish. It is as though the boss has no say.
c), d) CPF, medisave is like a bet with the insurer. Those who are healthy and not dug into it feels short changed. But they are the lucky ones, better to lose this bet. The unlucky unhealthy ones thank their lucky stars that they have such an arrangement in place. Ask them. Those who need not use a cent of their take home pay to finance their housing have their CPF to thank.
e) Maybe you mean not enough recognition.
f) For this I look at the participation at National Day Parades. There is a perpetual shortage of tickets. You should also take a ride into Seletar West Farmway 6 and see the accomodation and way of life of these foreign workers before you wail about being second class.

From N level to Uni graduate, isn't this a success story? From $11.50 to successful international surgeon is also success story.

I highly doubt GMS will join another party, he didn't want to be follower, he wanted to be war lord.
If he joined another party, he will be criticised for his undecisive stunt of jumping from party to party.

If form another party or contest as individual, he may end up paying volunteers to do house visits like Desmond Lim. His new party brand will not sit well with more established party.

The only possiblity is to coalite with Tan Jee Say and other parties defacture teams, but TJS is still undecided on what his next move will be and more of watch-first-act-later mentality thus even GMS may not grasp the mind of the person he wanted to join first. Pretty shaky at the moment.

The easiest task or the only option, for him, is continue his "political analysist" in online forum and criticse WP via his blog - no risk, no capital loss and an easy job while still keeping in the loop of political happenings. If he want, he can "accidentally" bump into chinese reporters and offer his side of "opinion" for a short fame.
