RCMP arrest Edmonton man for THC candy, marijuana possession

BY KEVIN MAIMANN ,EDMONTON SUN
FIRST POSTED: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2014 03:19 PM MST | UPDATED: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2014 07:24 AM MST

An Edmonton man is taking the bitter with the sweet after he was busted for possession of THC candies.
Capital West Integrated Traffic Unit cops found the sugary dope after stopping the 24-year-old man for a traffic violation on Highway 16 near Wabamun Jan. 11.
Officers smelled marijuana coming from the car and seized 574 grams of the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) candies, in addition to 5,238 grams of marijuana – enough to make roughly 25,000 joints.
Alberta RCMP said the candies, made by extracting THC oil and resin from organic marijuana using chemical solvents, are often more potent than pot and are new to the Edmonton area.
“Consumers have no way of knowing the percentage of THC or the potency of these candies,” RCMP drug expert Sgt. Lorne Adamitz said in a release. “Candies are created to attract a broader customer base, which includes youth, but attractive, brightly-coloured candy brings in a whole new set of risk factors for the exposure of children and toddlers to marijuana.”
The suspect admitted to officers that he bought the substance in Vancouver.
Police say there are documented cases of kids being taken to emergency rooms after consuming substances laced with drugs.
Sgt. Jamie Johnston of Alberta RCMP traffic services said unconventional drugs like the THC sweets will likely become increasingly common in Canada, in response to the legalization of pot in Washington and Colorado.
Donald Cook faces charges for possession with intent to traffic.
He is scheduled to appear at Stony Plain Provincial Court on April 26.

We are not allowed to discuss drugs here. Drugs is a strict no-no in Sinkieland.

Of course it's allowed in this forum and that's why sammyboy stands out in terms of free speech and no censorship, where in other govt owned sinkie forums u will be nabbed, banned and your anti FT threads and posts deleted without your knowledge.

If u discuss about exotic pets or drugs, there are AVA and CNB informers in this forum out to snook u.

I understand that consumption and possession of controlled substances in Singapore is illegal and punishable by the authorities, but talking about it does not constitute breaking any laws. Anyways, coming back to the title, I've come across hash oil, marijuana cookies (brownies), and even heard of Thai curry dishes where ganja is an ingredient, but this candy stuff is something totally new to me; just asking here.

Cheers!
