SINGAPORE - Electricity tariffs are set to rise by an average of 3.5 per cent in the first quarter of next year, SP Group said on Monday (Dec 30).

For the period from Jan 1 to March 31, electricity tariffs will increase by 0.81 cents per kilowatt hour (kwh) compared with the previous quarter.

Excluding the goods and services tax (GST), this translates to a rise from 23.43 cents per kwh to 24.24 cents per kwh for households.

The sad truth is that many will still vote the PAP and the underprivileged will become even more underprivileged while the rich gets richer.

It's all in the math. Unbeknown to most, our beloved Singapore has a large base of people living close to the poverty line and is the target for the popular vote for the government. Closer to the elections, the handouts will encourage them to vote for the most benevolent government in the world. Who gets screwed are the upper middle income who pay taxes to fund the million dollar ministerial salaries as well as the handouts to large population base. The ruling government knows that they are unpopular with the upper middle income group but they don't give a shit since even if everyone in this group votes against them, the number of votes won't move the needle against the votes from the appreciative large population base. Majulah Singapura!

You thank PAP for fuck?
Expressing gratitude for more increase?

No.
Those low income are.
Government will never go broke as long they in massive control mode
PAP seems to be getting more desperate for money and as always,,the poor and low income and middle income are being abused the most. Normally such increments always happen after the Erection and not before,,,so to have the increase now means PAP don't care or can afford to loose such votes and also the coffers could be empty and needs to be 'top up'. And who did these people vote for?

I also suspect the erection might be after the next budget. That is where all the goodies will be dished out.

This increase is absolutely necessary in order to pay for our million $$$ ministers. HUAT AH.

"What's wrong with collecting more money?"
