Recently, a loved one didnt feel well. He went to see his doctor and was referred to A&E Dept, TTSH. An MRI was done within two hours. Stroke was confirmed and bleeding detected. He was warded within four hours. Nurses and doctors in the ward were responsive and caring. The nurse in charge of every shift came in and introduced herself to him. Doctors were singaporeans. Nurses were Singaporeans and Filipinas. There was no language problem.

He was well taken care of during his stay.

Heart Echo was done on the 2nd day

CT Scan was done on the third day.

Eye check was done before discharge on 4th day.

For three days after discharge, the Ward nurses called up to enquire abt his well being.

I am thoroughly impressed by the excellent medical care and prompt service given by TTSH and NNI. I am proud of TTSH and NNI.

A big thank you, NNI and TTSH

Your were very lucky. I've heard of many criticisms of the health system in Spore.

Many of the nurses see it as an 8 to 5 job. When you ask them a question they will give you a puzzled look & simply tell you it's in the "instructions". There are many instances where they forget to do things & that's why you need to be there to monitor & make sure things are actually done correctly for your loved one. There are even problems with the doctors, they do things without informing the relatives.

I have also heard about mistreatment of patients who can't speak up because of their illness.

There is a good reason for those signs you see posted around the wards warning people about shouting at the staff. There must be many cases of frustrated & unhappy relatives who scold the staff. All this shouldn't come as a surprise, if you pay peanuts you are going to get monkeys

Yes, perhaps what my loved one was lucky. I am sharing what he experienced and what I saw.

Wld appreciate if others share their experiences, good or bad, too

The mistreatment case in the retirement home only surfaced when someone put a hidden camera & saw the evidence himself. There must be plenty of unreported cases.

The case of mistreatment in TTH was made by the other patients who saw what happened to my friends mum. My friend did not see the actual mistreatment but found out about it when she got to know the other patients in the ward. It's a good idea to make friends with the other patients because they'll tell you what actually goes on in the same ward.

Yes, we shd get diverse views and feedbacks to help the organisation improve.

What's laudable, they shd keep. What's deficient, they shd improve

How much did you pay for all this? Don't forget you are a celebrity and have connections to people in high places. Did you factor these in as well?

i am not a celebrity...we are no KGC who can commandeer SIA to retrofit its aircraft into an air ambulance.

It should have been FREE!!! My wife after her caesarian had the same treatment as well. Nurse came to visit home and baby the next day, and the following 2-3 days. All without paying a single cent.

$3000+......
