FORTY cleaners who work to keep Hougang clear of litter were treated to a lunch with Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Yaw Shin Leong on Saturday.
Pictures from the event were uploaded onto social networking site Facebook on Saturday afternoon, showing the blue-and-yellow clad Hougang Town Council cleaners interacting with the MP.
A simple paragraph prefacing the photo album summarised the afternoon's happenings (as is carried exactly below).
'Afternoon lunch with Hougang Cleaners (18th June 2011). Hougang cleaners had a lunch date with MP Yaw Shin Leong. It was a simple affair, buffet lunch at the void deck, and the team of 40 over cleaners was invited.
'The cleaners, dressed in their yellow and blue uniform, gathered enthusiastically to meet the new MP for Hougang at noon.
'Prior to this, the four supervisors of the team had shortlisted 12 individuals to be honoured for their outstanding dedication and commitment in keeping Hougang clean. Mr Yaw held a simple award-giving ceremony, awarding each of the 12 individuals a certificate of excellence. Thank you folks for keeping Hougang clean.'

Instead she'll bring all those Aljunied Chap Lau cleaners to a 5 star Hotel for lunch buffet with posse of reporters from the SPH covering the event..

Excellent gesture. Kudos to Yaw and WP. Fucking 52 years and PAP did no such thing. Suddenly no need to clap, no fanfare etc. So what the PAP running dogs going to do if they are not offered to show their love for their PAP MP, to rush and open the cardoor, etc.
