Bangkok is not a safe place ever since after the recent elections as the tussle between the royalists, its masters - the mighty Military & liberal CIVILIAN Elected legislators. Any moment flare up can occur, although in truth each group had tried their best attempts to keep it civil, at least for sake of the Economy where EACH group will need $$ for survival, regardless if legitimately or otherwise as NO Humankind are fools to realize REALITIES of Thailand, as happened when the usual COUPS happen & many, so many, lost their lives in past coups...
Thus, ANYONE, would seek a safe location, to protect their loved ones, even Kings or paupers, when alarms & fears are sounded, as at such moments, none would know what is actually happening, & concern for one's loved ones is only natural.
As our Embassy was nearby, it was only natural that they sought refuge there, AND WE SINGAPOREANS, embassy staff or mgmt, will leave no one behind, friends or foes, after ensuring identities are verified. with NO expectations or ANY reward or favors. The GREATEST reward one needs is the personal satisfaction & ACHIEVEMENT of SAVING a fellow Human Life, something not many would be able to achieve in our troubled & often self centered lives...
The Embassy DO have diplomatic status, IMMUNITY & NO HUMAN have any right to enter without PROPER & LEGAL representation, regardless if one sought is a King or a pauper... Thus the Rule of LAW MUST be UPHELD in all Earthly domains or only chaos will reign...
We Singapore had held strong relationship with the Thais & may it last forever. We respect each other, despite difficulties, & so too to other ASEAN members & even Worldwide Communities based upon SHARED common goals, with reason & logic, to uplift each citizens' lives, as no form of governance or culture/lifestyles are the same.
In times of turbulences, economic or political, at the least, our Rule of Law Singapore Embassies or Consulates Worldwide will ALWAYS be SAFE havens for those whom are in fear & a refuge as long as identities are verified. We are only a small nation but we will NEVER abandon our principles - the Rule of Law & each life is precious & means something special to another, King or pauper, even if we have to fight tooth & nail thru tech & intelligence to achieve such aims....

Look at the bloody Google Maps. It will show the Mudland embassy in same area as SG's. Why Johor Clown Prince select SG? Pls guess!

Thailand is a great tourist destination, truly the Land Of Smiles, but such can swiftly change within seconds when chaos rule, as proven in the past when leadership tussle turns into violence as proven in the past. Thus each must be prepared & NEVER to get involve. Only the Thais can decide the leadership issue, certainly not tourists. Therefore:-

2. At 1st sign of chaos or bullets being fired, gather one's loved ones closely & CALMLY exit the area or building immediately. Avoid stampedes. Know the exit points well.
3. Ensure each knows where the Singapore Embassy is located & their phone numbers, to obtain advice on the situation at hand.
4. Return to hotel & gather all belongings. KNOW where the 6 airports are located in Bangkok as well as the notorious traffic conditions & plan the route of exit.
Should a coup occur, usually peaceful foreign tourists are left unharmed & allowed to exit except perhaps those whom are of high profile status & would be of use to coup plotters.

So the crown prince is bullshitting and lying about his own country embassy being far away? In the situation of having a mad person carrying a gun to shoot people, every second counts. Any access for protection which is nearer is opt for. Did u see that too? Somemore he got his family and his children with him.

All embassies are reliable. There is no who is safer than the others. If there is a nearest protection in a gun situation, u go for it. This is called cooperation among ASEAN.
