Van Dralan Dixson, 38, told detectives there are two women he regrets raping, but the others were prostitution deals that went bad.
He’s sorry about a couple of those rapes - but not all of them. Van Dralan Dixson told cops he regrets attacking a woman waiting with her kids for a bus and a fast-food worker — two of nine victims in a string of south Dallas sexual assaults.
“These are the two that affect me,” Dixson told Dallas detectives.
The 38-year-old neighborhood watch captain reportedly felt so bad he visited the fast-food worker’s restaurant and told one of the woman’s co-workers he wanted to apologize for raping an employee.
He’s not sorry about the other incidents. Those were just prostitution hookups gone awry, he told the cops. The surprising confession is described in court documents, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Cops used DNA tests and a bizarre confession to charge Dixson, a neighborhood watch captain, in five of nine rapes reported recently in a south Dallas neighborhood.
Detectives grilled Dixson in Baton Rouge, La., after a friend reported him. They wanted to know about the “chicken lady” — the fast-food worker who was attacked on Sept. 1 as she walked home from her job.
Cops had DNA evidence to link Dixson to four other assaults but not the worker. His confession was the break they needed for a charge in that case too. The woman told police a gunman confronted her about 4 a.m. as she walked home from her job. “Give me everything,” he said.
The man made her perform oral sex on him, smacked her with a gun and forced her to have intercourse with him when she didn’t do everything he said.
Dixson fled to Baton Rouge, La., but he gave himself away when he called a co-worker, who tipped off police.
He robbed her when it was over, stealing her phone, food and drink. Other women reported similar encounters with a gunman who wore gold-rimmed glasses and attacked near the city’s Fair Park neighborhoods.
Detectives followed a tip to Dixson, interviewing him on Sept. 4 in Dallas. He provided a DNA sample but skipped town before the first match came back on Sept. 7.
Dixson gave himself away when he called a co-worker back home. The colleague called police, who tracked Dixson to a hotel in Baton Rouge and took him into custody.
Detectives asked Dixson if he was sorry for robbing the two women or having sex with them.
He said he was “sorry for everything,” CBS 11 reported.
Dixson said he needed money and was struggling to support his kids.
