TEMASEK Holdings has formed a new charity that benefits the underprivileged in Singapore - to commemorate the investment company's 35th anniversary. The charity, called Temasek Cares CLG Limited, will be supported by an endowment of $100 million.

'As a long-term investor, we have an interest in the lives of the people in the countries in which we invest,' said Temasek chairman S Dhanabalan yesterday. 'Successful communities are part and parcel of the economic and social well-being of a nation. They enhance the long-term prospects for businesses and investors.'
He said that Temasek Cares would 'support programmes to build people, build capabilities, build communities and rebuild lives'. 'The aim is to identify and support those who are under-served by existing programmes, and help them and their care-givers acquire skills and capabilities for a better future.'
A Temasek spokesman also explained that the idea of establishing Temasek Cares has always been part of a longer-term plan and was not developed in response to the financial crisis.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Temasek Cares will partner non-profit and charitable organisations in the Singapore philanthropic community to develop programmes or deliver services, particularly to cover those who are under-served by existing programmes. It is targeting to disburse $2 million annually to the non-profit and charitable organisations that it is partnering. However, as its seven-strong board - chaired by Richard Magnus - has yet to meet, details of which organisations they will be working with and what initiatives will be introduced remain under wraps.
Temasek Cares is the latest addition to the Temasek family of philanthropic organisations.
Temasek Foundation, for example, is focused on developing human and social capital in Asia. And Singapore Technologies Endowment Programme, Singapore Millennium Foundation and Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory focus on cultivating talent and knowledge creation.

So not all the money will benefit Sinkies. I think alot will be used on PR stunts to victims of some natural disasters in some other countries, or build schools etc. On one hand it creates the impression that they 'care' for you, and on the other hand they use the money to score points in the foreign countries. Good move.

hi there

1. just 2ml per annum over its huge "assets" and accumulation of "wealth".
2. that is caring enough.
3. well, just wait and see the creation of various top brass; ceo, md, snr vps, vp deputy vp etc in this tem cares orgn.
4. salaries payable should be more than the 2ml.

Of course i believed, am sure the leefamily are well taken care by temasick

I believe. I mean, Temasek donated more than 70 billion USD to scamsters and shenigans in a few blows. I have no doubt about their generosity with taxpayers' money. Question is where does it get donated to.

Nah, new boss coming in. Somemore Ang Moh taking care of our money that's why trying to make him look good before he takes over
