* Obama administration urges Egypt to protect embassy

* Israel appeals for American help

* Israel ambassador, family, staff fly back to Israel

* At least 450 injured (Adds state TV says ambassador leaves, confrontations continue)

By Sami Aboudi

CAIRO, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Hundreds of Egyptians stormed the building housing Israel's mission in Cairo and threw embassy documents and its national flag from windows, while state television said on Saturday that Israel's envoy, his family and staff had been flown home.

The Interior Ministry said at least 450 protesters were injured during a day of confrontations with police, who used teargas and fired in the air in an effort to disperse them. State television said 46 police were injured.

It was the second time the embassy was attacked since five Egyptian border guards were killed last month by Israelis during an operation against gunmen. That incident prompted Egypt briefly to threaten to withdraw its envoy.

Pulling Israeli diplomats even temporarily out of Egypt, the first Arab state to sign a peace treaty with the Jewish state, will shake Israel's confidence. It is already embroiled in a bitter feud with Turkey, formerly the closest of its few Muslim allies, over treatment of Palestinians. Continued...

The Cairo demonstrations continued well into the early morning hours, with police confronting at least 2,000 protesters near the embassy, a witness said.

They fired teargas and fired in the air to disperse the crowds. Protesters lit fires in the street using tyres, threw petrol bombs and stones and set at least two police vehicles alight.

Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf summoned his cabinet crisis team, which was to meet early on Saturday, state media said, while the Interior Ministry put police on alert and cancelled police holidays.

U.S. President Barack Obama called on Egypt to "honour its international obligations" and protect the Israeli mission after protesters, who had been demonstrating at Tahrir Square to push for a timetable for reforms and an end to military trials for civilians, smashed up a wall protecting the embassy building.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr to urge Egypt to meet its Vienna Convention obligations to protect diplomatic property, a senior State Department official said.

Israeli ambassador Yitzhak Levanon left Cairo early on Saturday, Egyptian state television said. State media earlier reported that an Israeli plane had arrived in Cairo to take the ambassador, his family and staff back to Israel.

Israel said it had asked the United States for help in guarding the embassy, located on the upper floors of an apartment block overlooking the Nile. Extra police and army vehicles had been sent to the area to protect it.

Activists who spearheaded the uprising that ousted President Hosni Mubarak on Feb. 11 have piled pressure on the ruling military council to fix a date for parliamentary and presidential elections and to get rid of senior officials who served under Mubarak.

Thousands had converged on Tahrir Square, the centre of the pro-democracy protests that toppled Mubarak, after Friday prayers for what was billed as "Correcting the Path" protests. Continued

Some later marched to the opposite bank of the Nile in Giza. Demonstrators used hammers, large iron bars and police barricades to tear down the wall, erected this month by Egyptian authorities after daily protests over the killing of five Egyptian border guards in Sinai.

The five died during an Israeli operation against gunmen who had killed eight Israelis. Egypt threatened to withdraw its ambassador from Tel Aviv. Israel has stopped short of apologising, saying it is still investigating how the Egyptian troops were killed.

"FRUSTRATION"

Protesters scaled the embassy building, removed the Israeli flag for the second time in less than a month and burned it.

Some also tried to break into the embassy and reached the entrance hall but had not entered inside the mission itself, Israeli and Egyptian officials said.

"The embassy itself has not been breached," an Israeli Foreign Ministry official told Reuters in Jerusalem. An Egyptian security source confirmed that the embassy offices had not been entered.

The demonstrators also tried to storm the local police compound, hurled stones at the police and torched at least four vehicles. They also set a public building adjacent to the police compound on fire.

Police responded by firing teargas and blanks into the air, witnesses said. Continued...

"This action shows the state of anger and frustration the young Egyptian revolutionaries feel against Israel especially after the recent Israeli attacks on the Egyptian borders that led to the killing of Egyptian soldiers," Egyptian political analyst Nabil Abdel Fattah told Reuters.

CHEERS AS WALL CAME DOWN

Egyptian police stood aside as activists tore down the concrete wall to the cheers of hundreds of demonstrators, witnesses said.

Friday's demonstrations were organised mostly by secular groups which had been pushing for reforms, a new constitution and an end to the trial of civilians before military courts.

Islamists, including the political party set up by the Muslim Brotherhood -- Egypt's best organised political force after the dissolution of Mubarak's National democratic Party -- have distanced themselves from the planned protests.

The country's military rulers have promised to hand back power to a civilian government after elections, which they said would be held before the end of 2011. The council has also facilitated the trial of Mubarak and several of his aides, including former Interior Minister Habib al-Adli, on charges of corruption or conspiring to kill some 850 demonstrators. Egyptians demolish Israel embassy wall at protest

Published: September 10, 2011

CAIRO (AFP) - A large group of Egyptians rallying for reforms branched off from a protest in Cairo's Tahrir Square and attacked Israel's embassy on Friday, destroying a protective wall with sledge-hammers.
Thousands of protesters massed in Tahrir Square, the epicentre of an uprising that ousted president Hosni Mubarak in February, to demand reforms and an end to military trials of civilians.
The protesters, who had gathered under a scorching sun, filled a section of the square to listen to Juma prayer sermon. "It would be shame on the Egyptian people if they forget their revolution," the preacher said. He criticised some of the prosecution witnesses in the ongoing murder trial of Mubarak and his security chiefs for testifying this week that they had not been ordered to use deadly force against protesters during the revolt.
"They must be charged with false testimony. How can a prosecution witness turn into a defence witness?" the cleric asked. The preacher also denounced military trials for civilians.

Netanyahu confronts the new Middle East
By: John Esposito | Published: September 10, 2011

Can it be? Did the Turks really dare to say “No” to Bibi Netanyahu, threaten to break ties with Israel, and say it so directly and strongly?
Bibi Netanyahu defiantly refused to apologise to Turkey for Israeli commando forces’ May 31, 2010 raid that killed nine civilians (eight Turks and one American of Turkish descent) and wounded several dozens, mostly Turkish citizens. The Turkish-flagged Mavi Marmara - a flotilla of peace activists, aid workers, writers, journalists, lawyers, members of parliaments and ordinary citizens - was bringing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza in an attempt to break Israel’s two-year blockade and siege of the Gaza Strip, which they believed was a necessary step to restart the peace process in the Middle East.
Bibi not only said no to the Turkish government’s demand for a formal apology, but no to the US as well. It was not a secret that both US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had strongly encouraged the Israeli government to apologise. Instead Netanyahu retreated to a mantra he has used throughout his years as prime minister: “We need not apologise.”
But should anyone have been surprised? One can understand the Netanyahu government’s intransigence and defiance: This is perfectly reasonable given the lack of resistance from the US and the international community, who consistently avoid dealing firmly, critically and decisively with Israel. Bibi is clearly not used to being diplomatically rebuffed and held accountable. Rather, he has a track record of defying international law, and of not being held accountable for the use of excessive force, violence, punishment and repression.
Witness the Israeli invasions of Gaza and Lebanon, the creation of an apartheid state, and the blockade of the democratically elected Hamas government in Gaza - aided by his US and EU partners. As in Gaza and Lebanon, so too in response to the attack on the flotilla. Even though an American citizen was among those murdered, the US silence was deafening.
Was Israel’s use of force justified?
Despite the United Nations report’s recognition of Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza as legal and appropriate, it noted that the flotilla posed no immediate threat and emphasised that the decision to board and use force was excessive and unreasonable, and that Israel had failed to provide an adequate explanation or details for the killing of the nine activists. Indeed, it concluded: “No evidence has been provided to establish that any of the deceased were armed with lethal weapons.” That said, Israel was advised to issue a statement of regret and “make payment for the benefit of the deceased and injured victims and their families”.
Need for a new narrative
As Turkey’s expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and downgrading of its ties with Israel signals, Israel’s defiance of both friend and foe alike will have implications in the new Middle East. The Netanyahu government totally misreads and ignores the Arab Spring with its demand for respect, dignity and freedom. Many of the authoritarian allies that the West and Israel could count on are gone, or going.
The new Middle East, like the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, requires a new narrative, and with it a redefining of relationships as partnerships. Turkey has become a major player in the Middle East, and a respected ally of the US and many EU countries. The loss of Turkey as a friend will further isolate Israel in the region and the international community. Israel’s continued occupation and blockade policies further demonstrate Netanyahu’s lack of leadership, and his lack of vision or desire to make peace with Palestinians and establish productive relations with new emerging Arab governments.
Israel’s fallout with Turkey, the repercussions of which are being felt across the Middle East and the Muslim world, comes just weeks before a scheduled UN Security Council vote to recognise a Palestine as a new member state. Despite Israel’s intransigence in US-led Middle East negotiations and Bibi’s arrogant personal style in dealing with Barack Obama, the US administration has made it clear that it will (yet again) veto any request presented to the United Nations and has lobbied its EU allies to also do so.
However, the US, EU and Israel will not be able to block a UN General Assembly vote to elevate the status of the Palestinians’ from nonvoting observer “entity” to that of a nonvoting observer “state”.
Such a vote will even more clearly symbolise Israel’s marginalisation in the community of nations, and will further undermine the US’ role as an honest broker in the Middle East peace process. Israel and Country surrounding are in silent war/cold war. Please dont waste time. Start the war.

Thats the idea. Currently US and its allies are in a economical turmoil which means nothing much to lose. A war will bring back the good old days plus ww3 will boost Apple shares higher due to the creation of war apps and more uses in the iphone and ipad applications for killing purposes. win win for US since Apple more richer than the US goverment right now.
