SINGAPORE: A multiple offender who had sex with four underage girls has been sent for reformative training by the court. Muhammad Nor Aszroy Zaidon, who turns 17 on Thursday, was convicted of having consensual sex with four minors between October 2011 and August 2012.
The girls, aged 12 to 14, cannot be named to protect their identity.
In June 2012, Muhammad Nor Aszroy also assisted in loansharking activities.
Of the nine charges he faced, the prosecution proceeded on four of them.
Court documents show that Muhammad Nor Aszroy met the girls through the popular social networking site Facebook.
He had also been given a 12-month conditional stern warning in May 2012 for having consensual sex with a minor. However, he went on to commit some of the offences while under the stern warning period.
During sentencing, district judge Shaiffudin Saruwan asked why the teen was so persistent in committing the offences.
Speaking through an interpreter, the accused said he "did not use" his brain.
The judge sentenced him to reformative training, which lasts between 18 months and three years.
For having consensual sex with a minor, he could have been jailed up to 10 years and fined. - CNA/ac
