Serial molester on probation
By Khushwant Singh
A TEENAGER, who molested four women in July and August this year, was placed on probation for 21 months on Monday. Muhammad Zulfiqar Mohamad Rosli, 19, was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service while his mother had to place a $5,000 bond for his good behaviour during the probation period.
He could be jailed for up two years and fined or caned for each of the three outrage of modesty offences he pleaded guilty to last month. Another molest offence and one of attempted outrage of modesty were taken into consideration by the judge in sentencing. The court then heard that at about 9pm on July 25, he had pounced on a 19-year-old student walking back to her hostel near Tanglin Halt Road and squeezed her breasts.
At 8.30pm on Aug 13 also at Tanglin Halt Road, a 20-year-old woman was in the lift waiting for the doors to close when he suddenly appeared and touched her breast from outside the lift before running away. At noon three days later, he followed a 20-year-old woman along Tanglin Halt Road and hugged her from behind. She broke free and escaped. He committed the two other incidents on July 17 and 19.
