This whole section was the site of the Sook Ching Massacre. Hundreds of skeletons was dug up in 1960s when the the hills were cleared for Marine Parade reclamation. Google <Jalan Puay Poon> and you can get more details.

Actually nowadays most that played basketball at HDB basketball courts are tiongs. If the fella that died is a tiong, then it's fated.
