Presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bock has received the endorsement Mohammed Maidin Packer Mohammed, in his bid for Presidency. He says that the ex-parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs is not the only PAP member who is supporting him.
Mr Maidin, a former PAP MP, had written in a Facebook post that he supported Dr Tan's stand on reinforcing the roots of multiculturalism in Singapore.
While Dr Tan was not willing to reveal the names of some of his PAP supporters yet, he said that his supporters come of their own accord, making it clear that he did not want any political endorsement and to be seen to be a proxy to any political parties.
He also named various opposition members, such as Ben Pwee, Jimmy Lee and Christopher Neo, as among his supporters in his Presidential bid.
As for whether Dr Tan will be holding an election rally soon, he said he wished to keep the media guessing on this.
He added: "I always do things quite differently from [the] other candidates. I surprised you, sent you mailers that took you off-guard, and maybe in a few days, you'll be surprised by another strategy of mine."
