SINGAPORE - A taxi driver who knocked down a cyclist, leaving him seriously injured and in hospital for more than a month, was fined $4,000 on Wednesday.
The accident happened after a zebra crossing along a slip road into Mountbatten Road, on the morning of Nov 9 last year.
Mak Chee Wah drove through the crossing after noticing another cyclist had stopped on the left, but he did not see the victim, 35-year-old Xu Wenzhu, cycling across the road from the right.
Mr Xu, a Chinese national, suffered serious injuries including a head fracture, and went into a coma.
