He fumbled (as did TKL) in the first segment but came back strongly later. Janadas tried intimidating (and to prove that he is worthy of his new position) him but not quite successfully with him as with TKL, who crumbled and agreed with his comments.

Actually, despite the initial fumble for TJS and TKL, I think TKL has the best performance by entrapping Tony Tan talking nonsense about giving talk to foreign leaders, pointing out that he is actually taking up the executive role. Tony Tan ended up with an incoherent answer until the host came to his rescue! On the other hand, TKL has a witty answer to the 20 second view!

TJS has tried to entrap Tony Tan by talking about him voicing his differences about the Casino in parliament but Tony Tan managed to dodge it off with a quick answer.

I think TJS did well enough but there is an area that he needs to address. When he quized TT over his protest on the casino issue as DPM, TJS gave an instant smirk smile in the direction of Tommy Koh. The body language he gave even if he didn't mean to was that he was looking for approval and that he felt he had delivered a fatal blow to TT. This was one part that I felt he did wrong. He should have put it across just as a mattter of fact and that he was addressing an area that the new President should look into. Other than that it was all fine. My 2 cents

The President has only the remote right to veto ( assuming that PAP as always doing things in secret). If his view was drowned as A DPM, what can you expect of him as the President? You have a point here but it would also apply to all other possible President hopefuls as well. If as DPM with supposed executive power cannot stop 'bad policies', what can the President do? This would likely be Tony Tan's answer by adding that it is a collective decision and they respected the "democratic decision" made by the Cabinet.... well, we will never know whether there is really "democratic process" within the Cabinet or not though.

Tony quick witted in his rebuttal? On the contrary, I thought that was pretty dumb. Why did he say he was not the President then? Was he trying to say the President had more executive powers than the DPM? The correct answer should have been that he alone could not have vetoed the move. It was the majority votes that did it! And, I thought TJS was slow in not being able to rebutt him.

It's a fact that TJS did not do well in the CNA esp. when he did that wrongful punch onto TT (TT was a minister not President when the casino debate was in the parliament). TKL fumbled initially also but managed to recover. It is interesting that for the first time, TKL started to copy TJS 'check and balance on the Govt' approach - despite accusing TCB of stealing his idea on the voice of the people!

TCB did well, TT seems to know the questions before hand...

Janadas hands on the table are tell-tale signs of his own nervousness for most parts of the session - wonder who is causing him to be nervous?

Well, despite all that, my vote is still incline towards the one that would be a catalyst for the Govt to be checked and balanced. Status quo or even Wee Kim Wee or Ong Teng Cheong like governance is simply not good enough.

Singaporeans need to be aware that whichever EP we select, the Govt will still have the prime power over Singapore policies - that's a fact. However, the psychological impact of one who is will check and balance the Govt is good for Singapore... will likely have to say Sorry to TCB also, soon.

Hello Goh Meng Seng. Don't know if this is your true identity but will propose this to you anyway. Do you think that organising a gathering at Hong Lim park on this Sunday to thank the PE candidates will be appropriate? No food no drinks, just a few words from the candidates and allow the people to give them a heart hurrah in person. Take some pictures and put it on the net and show the whole that opposition parties in Singapore are matured, understanding and decent people.
I could think of at least 3 decent candidates who deserve this gesture. Nothing partisan, no statements but just a show of appreciation and unity. A world first to be led b you. What say you,bro.

I wonder what is the real agenda behind TJS's participation. Somehow the shadow of that lunatic CSJ seems to lurk in his background and I certainly wouldn't want TJS to create havoc if he's elected. Dun get me wrong, I'll never vote for TT (PAP thru-n-thru) or TKL (just doesn't fit in). To me, TJS will be too much of a disruptive force if elected. His tone and demeneour are too pro-opposition and reminds me of CSJ to a certain extent. He must understand the exact role of a President. It's not a role with active executive duties; his hands will be tied and he will be going against a brick wall most of the times, especially when his views oppose that of the govt. Does he have the patience or stamina fit the role? Or will he be going in just to go against the govt e.g. trying to create another opposition voice? What will he be telling the heads of states of other countries during his conversations? Will he be a good rep of Singaporeans? Will he be a model figurehead? As voters, we must be clear and not just vote because we hate PAP. That's the job of the Opposition parties.

At the moment, I'm tied between TJS and TCB. 2 more days to decide.
