SINGAPORE: Singapore's Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin has said that the government will take a firm stand against companies which try to circumvent the country's labour laws.

He was responding to concerns over how some companies may find loopholes in the recently introduced Fair Consideration Framework, where employers are required to consider Singaporeans fairly before hiring skilled professional foreigners.

Mr Tan was speaking at a dialogue session at the end of his community visit to Woodgrove, where he also touched on the importance of community-rootedness in nation building.

......................"There are loopholes we know, we try to make sure the rules are fair. It can be done, but when you get caught, we will whack them. So for example, I see companies where they are blacklisted because they violated some rules. They may say: 'this is our first time, can you be lenient?' I say: 'But this is the first time you get caught, right? Not the first time you are doing it.'"

Mr Tan said policies must benefit Singaporeans. The key, he said, is to strike the right balance.

"All our policies must benefit Singaporeans and must benefit Singapore as a society. We don't create policies that benefit foreigners. It doesn't make sense, but foreigners being here play a part because when they are here, it also helps companies to be here because it's diverse and competitive. So being open is important and being fair is also important." he said.

Yup he is good at talkingcock. He can solve the problem by getting his ministry to just reject issuing work passes for a suspect company. So wat ever tricks these companies play its useless if they dont get approval to work here right? Waste time n money n effort to try n enforce rules that r not binding anyway. Wat an idiot.

This kind of crap comes from ministers who have never worked in the real world. In the real world, in quite a few companies, it has always been implicit that Indians and Malays applying for sales positions will never get an interview, let alone a job. In the days of old, Eurasians were always preferred over Chinese in banks like Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank and Standard Chartered Bank.

In something as subjective as suitablity of applicants for jobs, reasons for rejecting them during interviews are not difficult to find.

Ironical, that someone who spent his entire life sbjecting himself to curryng favours to get to the top and love having his bola carried all the way is a minister in charge of manpower. Whatever his brilliance academically or otherwise, not having worked in the real word will not enable him to understand the real issues.

This reminds me of the story that LKY wrote in one of his earlier books. When he turned up at the location where a "room vacant" had been advertised, the landlady, upon seeing a non-caucasian, told LKY that the room had just been taken.

So I wonder why the ministar never just say he will reject issuing work passes for campanies with discriminatory hiring policies.

Boss sam like to sprout that labour is mobile etc etc. But He fail to note that free hiring is not fair hiring. One point I want to bring up is Europe is in a mess and many European companies here want to hire from Europe as their fellow ang mors are out of a job (just to show how well ang mors run their own country). They will be glad to replace local middle management with ang mor ones...on local conditions,,that is where barriers need to be enacted. For example,,if an application for S Pass comes in, for a sales manager for some MNC,,surely it is suspect enough as Sales Manager is a talent position meh? The Ministry should just reject the application...

Now if its a Sales Director for Nuclear Reactors,,than maybe need FT as we have nuclear power technical know how,,but of course, since such an industry dont exists in spore than surely there is no need to hire such a person right? Unless of course NTU starts a nuclear faculty and needs expertise than such FTs are needed. However on the condition that locals be trained.

I want to bring up the case of Von Braunn, the German scientist who helped the USA get to the moon. When he was working for NASA, he and some fellow German scientist worked together to get the space program going. However he trained the US Scientist to carry on the program. And the rest is history,,why is spore not doing that? Mid level mgt etc has no need for FTs..senior mgt a few FTs needed but they need to provide employment for locals,,,easy as that, no ifs no buts,,but spore is going backwards which is stupid.

For a start, TCJ should take a walk around Changi Business Park and see how many Foreign Pariahs in smart starched long sleeves armed with their laptop backpacks making their way into the office buildings there..

uh no way FT cina or pundek etc will be in a trench with a local unless to be executed like in WW2. Malays did make good soldiers however now with the rise of the islamist,,its getting harder and harder to trust the muslims. But NS needs reforms,,,not the current shit that it is now,

No need to walk. Have lunch there any week-day. And before that, count the number of stalls selling Indian food. And the number of stalls selling Pinoy food.

We will soon see if BG Tan speaks with a fork tongue.

If so, then he'd better prepare to vacate Marine Parade. With only 53% support, this GRC may vote in Nicole Seah now that Goh Chok Tong is finally retiring. No amount of soiled menstral pads collected by Tin Tin would be able to save the BG.....

He may be the second BG after George Yeo to lose his seat.......

If Stephen Lee or the other angmo of the Business Council complains to LHL that he used the word "whack", then he himself will get whacked, for conduct prejudicial to the spirit of tripartitism.

Now you know why LSS has to talk with both sides of his mouth? No wonder he doesnt make sense all the time.

All he knows is how to carry the balls of descendent of smear of shit on the sole of shoe, echoing what the faggot says while preserving his million dollar salary, betraying the sacrifice made by true blue Singaporeans who served in the National Service while their jobs are snatched away by foreign thrash.
