The fact that you had been a PAP MP for 26 years speaks everything about you, Dr Tan Cheng Bok.
You joined a party, been with the party for 26 years, receiving lucrative stipends for 26 years, despite your continual claims that you disagreed with their policies.
You can't have your cake and eat it. Being with the PAP comes with perks, and shit that stinks to high heavens.
If only you had resigned for disagreeing with any one of the policies you felt your party did wrong, I would have believed that for once you stood up for Singaporeans.

The only one who dared and could and did tell LKY in his face, I disagree and quit, is TT. The only one who LKY sent to beg for him back is TT. Why's TT doing all these? For money? He's got more than enough to last several generations in opulence anywhere in the world. He's doing it for the country according to his belief. If you don't trust him and don't vote for him, fair enough. But just because of his PAP past you don't vote for him or spoil vote, sad. All candidates have PAP past, even TJS though not PAP member, worked under GCT.

Agree about Tan Cheng Bock - he never did anything in 26 years in parliament. I can't even recall him in terms of appearance and voice. Is he the vet, slim and tall with wavy hair.

It is a no brainer that anyone who thinks he has a slim chance of winning, he must have a public face. A face that has been seen countless times, a name that people has heard of and past achievements that he can be proud of. Apart from TJS, who has not submitted his forms, the other 3 has them.
There are hundreds if not thousands of such men that qualifies, but none of them has any desire to want to contest. Amongst these are outstanding personalities, who achieve much, all without any connections with the PAP. One thing stands out however, they do not have a public face and they prefer not to have one. Even if one of these individuals were to contest, he will not win because he is a nobody as far as the public is concerned.
Therefore, to those who keeps harping on this issue, that they are tainted because they had past links with the PAP, is dumb. If Tony Tan had never gone into politics and remain in OCBC, he would not be where he is today, and the same goes for the rest too. TCB will remain a humble doctor working his practice. I cannot say much about TKL, but being the opportunist that he is, he had his eye on contesting long before the issue of the mini bonds. When that happened, he went forward and use that to promote himself as a savior of the people against a heartless government. The rest is history.

tcb was a papee mp for 26 years who occasionally farted in parleement....
he voiced out against streaming, foreign labour, etc...but failed to make any impacts on their implementation...
if he was a man of conviction as made out to be, he would have resigned from papee long ago.
if you listen to his press statement carefully, he said that he was standing to prevent a walkover and give voters a choice from the papee endorsed candidate.....suddenly almost overnite, for convenience, he is anti-papee.

I reiterated just to counter your comments. If TCB had resigned if he disagreed, he won't be contesting because he will remain as a nobody GP somewhere in the ulus. Without enough public exposure, he will not stand a chance. At least he had the experience of ever crossing swords with LKY and Goh Keng Swee. TKL will be putty in the hands of LKY were he have the misfortune of crossing swords with him, that I can assure you. The only person who ever bested LKY in public was Francis Seow.
