SINGAPORE - Another claim of child abduction surfaced on Facebook two days ago, but it turned out to be a hoax.
According to the post, a girl was said to have been kidnapped near her childcare centre along Tampines Street 22.
But the police said no police report has been lodged regarding this case.
A check with childcare centres and primary schools in the area also confirmed that no child was reported missing.
Other similar claims have also been circulated recently.
The police are now investigating a claim of attempted kidnap which allegedly took place in Ang Mo Kio Hub earlier this month.
But while the police said they will "spare no effort to ascertain the veracity of these claims", they advised the public not to circulate unsubstantiated information and cause unnecessary alarm.
The police will also not hesitate to take action against those who knowingly spread false information.
