Fire broke out at the highrise Rujan Xianjiang Shoe Factory in Taizhou city at about 11 am local time.
The fire spread rapidly due to the materials and chemicals used in shoe making at the factory.
Standing on the overhead bridge about 400 meters away from the scene of fire, one can see clouds
of black billowing smoke.
Nine fire brigades from the Lishui, Taizhou and Rujian detachments were activated to fight the blazing
fire. More than 50 fire engines and 280 fire officers and men were engaged in fighting the fire.
After more than four hours, the fire was eventually brought under control.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
